Colorectal Surgery: State of the Art and Perspectives
This special issue belongs to the section “Gastroenterology & Hepatopancreatobiliary Medicine“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Colorectal cancer has been one of the most common forms for many years. Its treatment is often complex, as a large part consists of advanced forms. Unfortunately, the long-term results of the treatment do not satisfy both patients and doctors. Quality of life has also remained unchanged for many years because colon surgery is debilitating. Complications after colon operations are also common. Although new surgical treatment techniques have emerged, this has not substantially improved outcomes. A wider sharing of your experience, e.g., of organ-sparing operations, would help you become more familiar with new developments in this complex field of surgery. Obtaining an early diagnosis of colon cancer is also very important, which basically leads to significantly better treatment results. I hope that this important topic will interest many of my colleagues.
