Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to invite you to contribute to the Special Issue entitled “Clinical Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Disease: 2nd Edition”. This will build upon the first edition focusing on this theme (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/jcm/special_issues/LM2O74CR01).

The incidence of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBDs) has significantly increased in recent decades. This has led to an ever-greater impact of these diseases on society, since the vast majority of patients with IBD are of working age. Fortunately, in recent years, several different drugs with different mechanisms of action have been approved or are about to be approved for clinical practice. Therefore, clinicians involved in IBD management will have an increased therapeutic armamentarium. Over the coming years, studies will analyze the effectiveness of these drugs in real-world clinical practice. Furthermore, IBD research should focus on the important issue of the choice of the right drug for the right patient at the right time. This personalized approach could significantly reduce health care expenditure and also maximize therapeutic response rates. This Special Issue of JCM will provide an important opportunity to publish studies addressing these points, which would have a significant impact on the clinical management of IBD in the near future.
