2025 February-1 - 537 articles

Cover Story: In this study, long-term changes in nutrient dynamics and eutrophication on the Romanian Black Sea coast from 1960 to 2023 are examined. Rising sea surface temperatures, declining oxygen levels, and shifts in nutrient stoichiometry, particularly increased nitrogen-to-phosphorus ratios, are linked to the more frequent occurrence of harmful algal blooms (Noctiluca scintillans). Seasonal patterns indicate that prolonged warming intensifies oxygen depletion and nutrient imbalances, impacting marine biodiversity. The results of this study underscore the need for targeted nitrogen reduction strategies and integrated coastal management to mitigate eutrophication, aligning with SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water).
