Cover Story: The development of novel approaches for the functionalization of photosensitizers used in photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a burgeoning field of research. We hypothesize that polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) compounds are an attractive alternative to develop customizable scaffolds to functionalize photosensitizer agents in a broad variety of groups. In this paper, we investigate the effects of different functional groups on the silsesquioxane cage of the POSS-photosensitizer system for PDT. View this paper.
